Cathy Brais

Health & Safety Field Advisor, COHS NCSO

Cathy’s career in Occupational Health and Safety began in 1997 when she was elected by her peers as the safety representative for the Beaver Creek Maintenance Camp. From the outset, she demonstrated a strong commitment to worker safety, gaining valuable frontline experience in remote northern operations. Over the years, she advanced into leadership roles, frequently taking on supervisory responsibilities and contributing to the development of safety programs in their early stages.

Today, Cathy brings her extensive field background to her role as a Safety Advisor with SHE Consulting. Her work focuses on supporting companies in meeting safety standards through program reviews for mine site pre-qualification, evaluating Safe Work Procedures and Job Safety Plans, conducting inspections, leading Health & Safety Committee meetings, and developing practical, easy-to-apply toolbox talks. She combines real-world experience with formal training.  Cathy holds a Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, and is a certified First Aid Instructor with the Red Cross.

With a strong belief in hands-on training and mentorship, Cathy is passionate about helping workers and supervisors understand their responsibilities and perform their jobs safely. Her decades of field experience bring credibility and practical insight, supporting safer work practices both on the job and beyond. Outside of work, she enjoys camping, skidooing, boating, and fishing, embracing the same adventurous and hands-on spirit that has guided her career.
